Chittagong Independent University (CIU) has made a significant addition to higher education in Chattogram by launching the city’s first MBA in Professional Accounting, alongside a new BBA in Supply Chain Management. These two industry-focused academic programs were formally inaugurated on 6 August 2026 at the CIU Auditorium, marking another milestone in the university’s commitment to offering career-oriented and future-ready education. In response to the demands of the evolving global economy, digital transformation, and rapid changes in the industrial sector, the university has introduced these timely and industry-oriented programs with the aim of developing skilled human resources. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Dr. Mohammad Ayub Islam, Professor of Accounting at the University of Chittagong and former Member of the University Grants Commission (UGC) as the Chief Guest, while Trustee Parveen Mahmud, FCA, Member of the CIU Board of Trustees, attended the event as the Special Guest and it was presided over by Professor Dr. M. M. Nurul Absar, hon’ble Vice Chancellor of CIU. The program was moderated by Ms. Umme Humaira, Lecturer, CIUBS. The welcome address was delivered by Professor Dr. Syed Manzur Quader, Dean, CIUBS. Industry experts Mr. Nazmul Islam, FCMA, Finance Manager at Svitzer Asia Private Limited, and Major (Retd.) Munir Uddin Hasan, Head of Operations at Expo Freight, also shared their insights at the event. The closing remarks were delivered by Professor Dr. Emon Kalyan Chowdhury, Head of the Department of Accounting, CIUBS. It was also attended by Engr. Md. Masudul Hasan, Factory Head, Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited, Captain Mainul Ahsan, Deputy Managing Director, Smart Group of Industries, Mr. Bikash K. Chakraborty, GM, Sales & Export, Karnaphuli Shoes Industries Limited along with CIU faculty members, Registrar, administrative officials, students, CIU alumni, staff, and other invited guests.
