About Master of Laws (LLM) in Human Rights

Department of Master of Laws (LLM) in Human Rights

The Chittagong Independent University Master of Laws (LLM) in Human Rights program is a specialized postgraduate degree designed to develop advanced knowledge in legal frameworks related to human rights at national and international levels. Offered under the School of Law, the program provides flexibility with a duration of 1 year for LL.B. (Honours) graduates and 2 years for LL.B. (Pass) graduates, requiring 40–60 credits for completion.

The curriculum combines General Education Development (GED), core human rights courses, and a viva voce, ensuring both theoretical and practical understanding. Students can explore diverse areas such as international humanitarian law, climate change and human rights, migration law, and constitutional rights in South Asia.

This program prepares graduates for careers in legal practice, NGOs, international organizations, and human rights advocacy, equipping them with analytical, research, and policy-making skills.
