CIU Signs MoU with Yunnan University, China, Strengthening Global Academic Collaboration
Chittagong Independent University (CIU) marked another milestone in its internationalization journey on 26 June 2026 by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Yunnan University, one of China’s leading public research universities, to strengthen academic and research collaboration. The MoU was signed by Professor Ma Wenhui, President of Yunnan University, and Professor M. M. Nurul Absar, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of CIU, at Yunnan University, China, in the presence of Professor Mamun Ahmed, Hon’ble Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh. The signing took place during the prestigious “2026 Chinese Bridge” Bangladeshi Educator Delegation visit to China, hosted by Yunnan University, marking a significant step toward strengthening academic cooperation between the two universities. On the same occasion, Professor A. B. M. Obaidul Islam, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, and Professor Shamsad Mortuza, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), also signed separate MoUs with Yunnan University, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing higher education collaboration between Bangladesh and China. The partnership between CIU and Yunnan University will foster student and faculty exchanges, collaborative research, academic mobility, joint academic initiatives, and knowledge exchange, further expanding global opportunities for the CIU community.
