An interactive awareness session titled “Managing Stress and Building Mental Resilience”
An interactive awareness session titled “Managing Stress and Building Mental Resilience,” under the theme “Care for Health, Care for Lives,” was held on 5 May 2026 at the CIU auditorium. Organized by the Mental Health and Wellbeing Center (MHWC), CIU, the first center of its kind among private universities in Chittagong, the session was graced by the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. M. M. Nurul Absar, as the Chief Guest. The event was chaired by Ms. Nazneen Akter, Assistant Dean of the School of Law and Director-in-Charge of MHWC, CIU, while the welcome address was delivered by the Registrar, Ms. Anjuman Banu Lima. Dr. Tashnuva Mahbin, MBBS, MCPS, (Psychiatry) and Consultant of the Center delivered the keynote presentation, providing clear and practical guidance on managing stress and building mental resilience. She explained the differences between “eustress” (positive stress) and “distress” (negative stress), and clarified the distinction between stress and burnout. She also emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and shared effective strategies for strengthening mental resilience. Among others, Professor Dr. Moslehuddin Chowdhury Khaled and Ms. Tamanna Binte Zaman from the CIU Business School, along with faculty members, officials, the Librarian, and students from various departments, attended the event. During the interactive session, participants shared personal experiences and gained valuable insights into coping strategies for managing stress. The organizers noted that such initiatives will continue in the future to promote students’ mental well-being and awareness.
